General Vo Nguyen Giap

General Vo Nguyen Giap.jpgGeneral Giap was one of the supercrafty Vietnamese generals who directed NVA forces against the French and later the United States during the Vietnam war.
General Giap was an avowed communist whose commitment to the cause was probably strengthened by the torture and execution of his wife, sister, sister in law, and father in law by the French. He learned guerilla warfare by fighting against the French and polished his skills later against the United States.
This old codger knew his business when it came to leading troops and I don’t know if you Vietnam war Veterans ring customers know this but the same factors which got victory against the French worked against the US.
In both cases the peoples of first France, and then the US lost their stomach for a prolonged war which didn’t seem to have many discernable benefits. The North Vietnamese knew that guerilla warfare tactics were capable of causing the Americans to lose faith in their prosecution of the war as it did with the French.
