Russia is Seeking to Acquire French Amphibious Assault Ships

The Russian Navy is seeking to acquire the newest French built amphibious assault ship to help to shore up its aging fleet and provide increased versatility for its naval fleet.
The Mistral is able to carry large numbers of personnel and equipment into relatively shallow waters and quickly discharge them to fight the land battle.
This gives them an offensive ability that they don’t presently posses. This is a cause for concern for neighboring countries. Russia wants to buy licenses from France to build several of the ships. The ships can also be used to transport and offload large quantities of military equipment. I don’t think that this is any cause for concern to our Navy and our Navy ring customers.
