a-26I stumbled across this aircraft description while I was looking for items to blog about and thought it was worthy of mention. I was not an never in the US Air Force so I don’t want you Air Force military ring customers to get upset with me if I don’t get everything exactly right but I will do the best that I can to give a description.
The A-26 was a light attack bomber which entered military service  in 1946. It was finally retired in 1972 with the last few operational planes being used in the Air National Guard. This bomber was well armed with 50 caliber machine guns and had a crew of 3. It used an interchangeable nose cone which could be re outfitted for mission variations.
The maximum speed of this aircraft was 355 mph (not much). It had six machine guns mounted in its nose, four on turrets, and an optional 8 more which could be mounted under the wings in pods.
