A wargame is when you try to get an idea of what a military operation will incorporate by going through the various scenarios that the battle that you are getting ready to fight will present.
You cannot cover every possible scenario or forsee every possible problem but wargaming definitely helps. It had evolved almost into a science before I got out of the military. We would put the plan together and even do as many rehearsals as we could before the actual battle. We would even build replicas, or sandtables of the area that we would operate in.
Wargaming gives all who are involved a better feel for what needs to be done. Even when plans go awry (they always do) you can make good decisions about what action to take because you know what everyone else should be doing and where they are trying to go. I am sure that all of you military ring customers know also that when you wargame it gives all of the participants a sense of being more involved in the planning process and helps to increase your chance of success.
