Civil Air Patrol seal.pngThe Civil air Patrol is an official auxillary to the US Air Force. Its members are not employed by the federal government asĀ Airmen but they do wear uniforms whenever they perform their duties in accomplishing their mission.
The Civil AirPatrol was founded on December 1st 1941 during WWII. It initially was a way to garner and utilize America’s civilian aviation resources to aid in the war effort. Its mission has been modified over the years and today it has several functions. Some of its missions are to; perform emergency services, search and rescue, and disaster relief. It also performs missions associated with homeland security and courier service missions.
The Civil Air Patrol is a nonprofit organization and performs an invaluable services for our country. My Air Force military ring customers may have known all about the Civil Air Patrol before now but I learned a lot about it when I did the research for this post.
