The Osprey Makes it to Afganistan

Posted November 10th, 2009 by OldWarrior

Osprey-stanThe Marine Corps has recieved its first shipment of the new V-22 Osprey aircraft in Afghanistan. All of our USMC military ring customers should be glad to hear this news because of the troubles that this aircraft has run into in the fielding process. The Osprey ran into many problems but overcame to be the aircraft that the Marine Corps wants it to be.

The Osprey has VTOL (vertical take off and landing capabilities), and STOL (short take off and landing capabilities). It combines the features of a helicopter and a prop plane into one aircraft. It can take off vertically like a helicopter then perform at high speeds as an airplane.

The first Ospreys in Afghanistan went to Task Force Leatherneck. All will be monitoring their performance closely during this deployment.
