Many Iraqis Protest US Involvement There

Thousands of Iraqi citizens gathered in Sadr city to protest the American involvement in their countrie’s operations. From what I read they were pretty vehement about not wanting Americans in their country.

I think that I can safely speak for our troops there when I say that they are even less interested in being there. I hope that this serves as a lesson to our government to not get in the business of other countries. Lets leave them alone and come home.

There is one funny thing about the protest. I remember watching on TV not too many years ago I saw an Iraqi crowd do the same thing. Tthey were celebrating our arrival during Operation Iraqi Freedom. They took their shoes and beat the statue of Saddam Hussein with them. This is the highest insult that an Arab can show you. During this last protest they painted pictures of the US, Israel’s and Great Britian’s flags on the sidewalk and took their turns stomping on them.

What the Iraqi government needs to realize is that the people who are pushing for us to leave have their own agenda. The Iranian government is prodding them to get rid of all Americans and so is Muqtada al-Sadr. He made a power play during the active part of the occupation but it didn’t work. Hee needs our custom military ring customers out of the picture so that he can make another play.

The Iraqi government is working on a solution now about whether the US will stay and the rally was probably staged to influence them. If the Iraqis make the wrong decision there will be a serious price to pay.
