Gadhafi seems to be Losing Contol of Libya

Long time Libyan President Mohmar Gadhafi seems to be losing control of Libya. He has used military force in order to maintain his rule over the country but rebel forces seem to be making headway no matter what he does. He has lost control of about half of his country and his forces have not been able to retake ground lost to the rebels during military battles.

Many of the rebels are ex military men and have some of the same of the equipment that the Libyan army has and they have the same training. They also have the incentive to be free. Gadhafi has tried to use brute force to maintain order but I really believe that the use of force was the worst move that he could have possibly made. His actions have only exacerbated the situation and caused the uprising to grow. He obviously doesn’t want to lose the revenue which he is getting from the country.

His best action would probably be to do what the Egyptian President did and just leave the country. If he had tried to use diplomacy in the beginning his chances of maintaining control would have been better. Our military has a force close to Libya at this time but they would probably be used in an effort to help to evacuate and provide aid to refugees if they are used at all.

Our military ring customers are already stretched thin so any combat shouldn’t be an option. There is nothing to gain by military action anyway.
