The Afghan Presidential Election has been Declared Successful

billboardThe Afghan Presidential election has been declared successful by President Obama now that it is over. This is despite the Talibans many attempts to disrupt the proceedings, and to coerce people not to vote.

Hamid Karzai, and Abdullah Abdullah, who is his main opponent have both declared that they will abide by the election results.

Some of our soldiers sacrificed all in order to insure the right to vote for the people of Afghanistan and I certainly hope that it is appreciated. The sacrifice of military men and women for the good of all is nothing to take lightly. I remember many days of being tired, dirty, hungry, miserable, and cold all at the same time. The sacrifices that I made are nothing compared to others. Operation Enduring Freedom is certainly the right name for this operation, and I certainly hope that the freedom does endure for the people of Afghanistan. The price in bodies for this election were 17 Afghan security personnel, 9 civilians, and 20 insurgents. Let us never forget.
