The Story of the Cruise Missile

tomahawk cruise missileThe term cruise missile is a term which refers to guided missiles which deliver an explosive payload. The cruise missile has wings and is powered by a jet engine. Cruise missiles can be adapted to a variety of situations to meet operational requirements. Their warheads, speed, guidance control systems etc. may vary based on the operational requirements of a particular mission. 

The cruise missile consists of a guidance system, a payload, and a propulsion system. Cruise missiles are extremely accurate and expensive so they are used on high priority targets where extreme accuracy and effects are desired. These missiles are extremely expensive so they are not necessarily used for all targets which may be encountered. Cruise missiles are normally fired from ships and/or aircraft.
