A US Missile Strike Kills Five Militants in Pakistan

Drones have struck again in Pakistan and caused the deaths of militant Taliban fighters. I can imagine that if we could get some ground support we would make a much more serious dent in Taliban forces in the region. Ground forces would work with the drones in a synergystic type of warfare and the results would be more devasting effects on the enemy.

The attack took place in the general vicinity of Khar Qamar. We have done many different posts on the drone attacks and have talked about how the advent of the drone has greatly helped our effort in Pakistan. It seems that in every conflict a different piece of military equipment is developed which provides a unique contribution that not only contributes to the conflict that it is used in but will be a permanent addition to the military inventory. With each new piece of equipment custom military ring customers have to be specially trained to man and operate it.

In WWI it was the tank anong with the submarine. In Vietnam it was the helocopter. During this conflict several notable pieces of new equipment have been developed which will be in the forefront for many years to come. Those which immediately come to mind are the armored up HUMMWV, the Stryker. the Osprey. and the Drone.
