Rayethon has unveiled its new Scorpion Helmet technology which will give F-16 and A-10 pilots a tactical edge on the battlefield. The technology is a monocle which can be attached to the pilot’s helmet.
The biggest advantage of the technology is that it has sensors which will allow the pilot to fire at a target without having to turn the nose of the airplane to face it. The pilot will see the target and fire at it without having to do anything more than use his joystick.
Some other advantages that the technology offers are color and night vision, both of which are extremely important. In my estimation the night vision capability will be the most notable of the two but I may be wrong.
The technology is cost effective which is another plus because the monocles can be produced and attached to existing helmets which will eliminate the need for purchasing new helmets or replacing the helmet visors. The units are light weight so they will not noticeably affect the pilots physical performance.
