The Times Square Bomber Pleads Guilty

Posted June 22nd, 2010 by OldWarrior

The times square bomber who’s failed bombing attempt on times square was discovered because of the faulty bomb has pled guilty in his trial. Faisal Shahzad who was born in Pakistan pled guilty 100 times more. Not good sense on his part but you kind of have to admire his spunk. Judge Miriam Cedarbaum would not accept his plea initially. She was obviously making sure that there will be no snafu’s later on. She obviousy doesn’t want any grounds for mistrial after the case is completed and the verdict has been reached.

Mr Shahzad was financed by the Pakistani Taliban in that failed bombing attempt which leads to the question of what we can do to stop the Pakastani Taliban. We don’t have the resources to extend our war into Pakistan. Doing so would probably be a tactical blunder. They have to be dealt with in some way, shape, or form. Our Special Operations ring customers could possibly be used to a degree but not the degree necessary to permanently cripple them. We have used drones with some success, but drones alone are not going to be the answer. If the Pakistanis would take a more active role in eliminating the Taliban from its borders that would be a great help, but they have their reasons for not doing so. The question remains then; how do we deal with the Pakistani Taliban?
