In my humble opinion the answer is yes. The United States will have to be the country to deliver the blow to prevent other Arab countries in the region from attacking Israel. The US could pull it off because we are already at war with several countries in the region anyway. I am willing to bet big that there are other Arab countries who are not comfortable of the idea of Iran with nukes but who don’t want to speak out. These countries would turn a blind eye on us more so than they would if the Israeli’s attacked. There would be a lot of rhetoric and anti US talk but their heart wouldn’t be in it.
Any such strike would have to be carefully planned because it would have to be swift. decisive, and devastating. Intelligence would have to be right on the money. You wouldn’t want to swing at Iran and miss because they would immediately retailiate against Israel.
If you were one of our custom military ring customers during Desert Storm you know that Saddam Insane wouldn’t capitulate because he wanted to save face. In this case we have a religous fanatic who doesn’t want to lose face either. That makes him a double threat because Saddam wasn’t a religous fanatic.
