Gearing Up for the Kandahar Offensive

The US and NATO allies are gearing up for the major offensive against Kandahar in Afghanistan this summer. The offensive will not be a high intensity conflict but it will take a while to complete. Military planners are hoping that it will be over before Ramadan in August so we are looking at approximately 60 days time.

The biggest battle in this war is not necessarily against the Taliban but for the hearts and minds of the people of that country. In order for our military ring customers in that country to be able to do their job we must remove every possible barrier which will impede their progress.

This battle is crucial because Kandahar is the heart of the Taliban’s stronghold in Afghanistan. Control of the region around Kandahar will effectively break the back of the Taliban. Right now our troops are working on securing supply routes which go through the city, and developing relations with the citizens of the region.

Another part of our military strategy is to utilize the Afghan police and Army to do more of the heavy lifting. If all goes well our military ring customers may get to come home a little earlier tan expected.
