The question is how will the United States and its allies approach the battle on Kandahar in Afghanistan. The word is that it will be a very deliberate and measured occupation of that region.
There are several reasons for this but before I talk about them let me highlight the assault on Marjah. Obviously the strategy for that assault was right on point. The area was taken and is now under NATO control. The strategy for taking Kandahar will be more deliberate. This operation will give civilians time to move away from areas which are to come under attack and will insure fewer civilian casualties. It will also give terrorists in the area a chance to escape before hostilities begin.
A deliberate occupation will also give our military planners and troops time to plan every facet of the operation and execute accordingly. This should also result in fewer casualties for our military ring customers.
