NATO troops have confirmed that Taliban fighters are using innocents as human shields in the current fight in Marjah. Our troops have reported on various occassions that Taliban fighters have attacked them from buildings where they have clearly seen innocent women and children being held. In order to overcome this our troops have to make their actions slow and deliberate.
Despite all of our efforts there have been some civilian casualties in this operation. There have also been 5 NATO casualties in the offensive.
Our military ring customers are reporting that resistance does seem to be diminishing as they make progress through the area. Thats a good thing, hopefully it is a sign that they have broken the Taliban’s back. The prediction is that at the current rate the area should be cleared within the next 30 days. I am hoping that our forces will be able to complete the offensive much sooner.
