NATO is Fighting a Slow Methodical Offensive in Afghanistan

marjahhelo2.19lg.jpgI can speak to the current offensive in Afghanistan only a little bit because I only know what I read in the news, but from what I can figure it is going well. Of course there are no operational details as there shouldn’t be, but we do know that US Marine Recon units have been airlifted behind enemy lines. The advancing forces should link up with them somewhere South of Marjah.

This is another tribute to our Marine Corps ring customers, and our Marine Force Recon ring customers in particular.

The resistance has not been heavy but the enemy that they are now fighting seem to be better trained than what they are accustomed to. Casualty figures are not clear but there is an estimated 120 Taliban casualties at this time.

The advance of our forces has been slow and methodical so as to completely clear out the Taliban. The strategy is to quickly set up a government in the newly cleared areas so that when our forces withdraw the Taliban won’t be able to retake control.
