The characters that you see here are 6 would be suicide bombers who were arrested recently in Lahore in Pakistan. They were determined to kill some Americans by attacking the Pearl Continental Hotel which is a five star hotel. They were carrying at least one suicide vest and 26 hand grenades which they planned to use in their little campaign.
The thing which really disturbs me is the irrationality of their reasoning for conducting the attack. I’m sure that all of you custom military ring customers now serving in Afghanistan are aware of this attitude that many of the civilians and terrorists alike have. They say that the United States is responsible for the killing of every innocent Muslim in Afghanistan. Now I’m sure that we have killed our share of innocent people but let me say this as a former soldier. We use every available tool that we have to make sure that we don’t accidentally kill noncombatants and friendly soldiers but sometimes it does happen. I know this for a fact because I used to train with our military and I am a Gulf War veteran. Our troops are under tight orders about the targets that they are able to engage and discipline is strict.
I believe that most innocent Muslims are killed because the taliban wants it that way. I deplore this more than I could ever deplore anything else. Maybe the reason that Pakistani civilians won’t say anything about the deaths that the taliban causes is because of fear of reprisal. At least they do know that when it comes to the United States they have the freedom to say whatever they wish without reprisal.
This attitude bothers me because it is so misguided. Our custom military ring customers serving in the war on terror are doing all that they can but not getting the recognition that they deserve for trying to do the right thing.
