The North American Aerospace Defense Command

North American Aerospace Defense Command logo.jpgThis is the current name for NORAD which began out of the cold war fear of Soviet strategic nuclear bombers being able to attack the United States and Canada.
The original name for NORAD was The North American Air Defense Command. NORAD is a joint security venture of the United States and Canada. NORAD has many missions with the foremost being early warning of aerial attack against either of the two countries, air superioty of our air forces over domestic airspace, and the air defense of both countries.
I remember the commercials showing nuclear bomber pilots scrambling to their airplanes during an impending nuclear attack on the United States. This was cold war anti Soviet mania which was brought on with the advent of nuclear weapons. NORAD performs an equally important mission today although it seems to be much more secretive. NORAD is just as necessary now as it was when it was first organized.
Now check this out. All of our Air Force ring customers may already know this but those of us custom military ring customers who are not affliated with the Air Force may not. Did you know that NORAD monitors all of the aircraft which fly in the United States? If you didn’t just think about it for a minute. Do you realize just how much of a task that this is. think about it.
