The rank of specialist is an army rank and is the rank between the private and the sergeant.
The specialist has been around for a few years so he or she is able to perform his or her job duties with very little supervision. The speciaist is in the transition point of his or her career. The next step is the rank of sergeant which is supervisory. In the army those who hold this rank are called Spec 4. This rank is the fourth and last step before the rank of sergeant.
The Spec 4 is often left to supervise privates to prepare him or her for promotion to sergeant. The equivalent rank in the marine corps is corporal. Corporal is also used in the army but you don’t see many of them any more. Normally a Specialist serves in the same capacity. Sometimes a specialist may be laterally promoted to designate him or her as the de facto leader or the group but this is rare also. Many of our custom military ring customers are specialists. As a matter of fact more so than with any other rank of the customers that we serve. We have some custom ring designs which are peculiar to the specialist who may be in the process of designing a custom military ring.
