Do You Remember the Nuclear Arms Race?

Posted January 1st, 2010 by OldWarrior

madThe nuclear arms race was another by product of the cold war competition between the US and the Soviet Union. It began with the US development of the first atomic bomb and continued until the end of the cold war.

Now I know that some of you older warriors around know more about this than I do so feel free to write us with your comments.

For you military ring customers who are younger this is what it was all about. When the US began its nuclear project the Russians had a spy team in place that kept them abreast of the situation. It wasn’t long until they had their own nuclear program and because of the distrust between the two countries the arms race went into full force. Both countries had enough nuclear armament in the 50′s to destroy each other so everything after that was gravy.

The nuclear arms race was responsible for much of the nuclear and missile technology that we have to date. Some of our younger military ring customers may not remember this time but these were tense years in our military history.
