The Definition of a Shock Wave

shockwaveThe best way to describe a shockwave in laymans terms is force. A shockwave is the force which is usually created by an explosion. Although it can be created by sudden violent movement. It starts at a certain point and goes outward.

I have worked for some people in the military that I can classify as shockwaves. They were mentally disturbed so they took the disturbance with them where ever they went. Some people got pleasure out of making others uncomfortable. Personally I see this as a lack of confidence. A good leader doesn’t have to make life unpleasant to get the job done. I’m sure that there are many of you custom military ring customers out there who agree. Anyway back to the subject.

The chacteristics of the shock wave are a rapid rise in air pressure, temperature, and density. The violent action of the shock wave kills humans by compressing and distorting internal organs and causing internal damage. Most times the shock wave will not be severe enough to kill on its own. It will cause confusion, and disorientation. Sometimes this is enough to get the desired results such as when an artillery round hits a tank but doesn’t penetrate it.
