GI Blocks Ambush, Earns Silver StarThis post is to honor SPC Jeremiah Church who was awarded the Silver Star for his actions during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007. We like to find stories about the good things that our servicemen and women do and are doing while deployed.

In this incident SPC Church’s platoon was set up by insurgents and drawn into a well planned deliberate ambush. Insurgents had stopped up a water supply knowing full well that we would send a unit to find the problem. The  ambush was set up in an area where movement was very restricted giving the platoon little or no room to maneuver. SPC Church’s Humvee was positioned in a position where he was the only one able to return fire at the enemy machine gunner. When the ambush began he did so even though he was seriously wounded. He continued until he passed out from loss of blood. We custom military ring people would like to take this opportunity to send a shout out to SPC Church for his actions under fire.
