The President of Pakistan Says that we are Losing the War

Asif Ali Zardari who is the president of Pakistan went on record to say that we are losing the war there. Now if you were to ask me (and I know you didn’t) I think that he is doing a whole lot of double talk. I read his statements and it sounds to me that he is attempting to find a way to get some aid money put into someones hands.

First of all he cites the reason that we are losing is becaue we are losing the battle for the hearts and minds of the Afghan civilian population. My question on that point is this; If we are losing that battle by doing all that we can to save them how is the Taliban and al-Qaida winning when they use them as human shields. Now there is some truth is this because the Afghan army can be corrupt in its dealings with civilians but not our troops (as a practice). I have always judged winning and losing by the number of casualties that you inflict on your enemy.

He goes on to say that Pakistan and its people are the victims of terrorists and that the Afghan people know the brutality of the Taliban. Well so much for the hearts and mind theory. Also did you notice how the Pakistani people were inserted into the equation? I wonder what it would take to make them feel better? Do you get my drift? For a country whose people are such victims the Pakistanis are slow to deal with the terrorists inside of their border. When they run back into Pakistan our military ring customers over there can’t even follow because the Pakistani government won’t allow it. Now if my people were being victimized by someone I would accept all of the help that I could get. I would be more than happy to allow the US Army to clean up my problem. Military ring customers do you get my drift?
