Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) is the official name given to actions of the ongoing US War on Terror being conducted in Afghanistan by US and Afghan units. The conflict officially began on October 7 2001 with a massive US and British bombing campaign in Afghanistan. The stated objectives of this operation are: the destruction of terrorists training camps and their supporting structures, the capture of al-Qaeda leaders, and the cessation of terrorist activities in Afghanistan. This conflict is ongoing and it has successfully removed the Taliban from power in Afghanistan and severely crippled al-Qaeda in its terrorists operations.
