The Navajo Code Talkers

navajo code talkersNavajo code talkers were used by the USMC during WWII. During that time there was no such thing as secure battlefield communications. All radio transmissions were made “in the clear.” Morse code and military phonetic spelling were too time consuming for battlefield use. The Marine Corps needed a language that could not be deciphered. The Navajo language was the perfect choice mainly because there were so few people that could speak it.

Navajo code talkers were used until the middle of the Vietnam War. The service that they performed for this country was invaluable and is credited with many victories for the Marines. This language and this chapter in history is not much more than a memory now. Are there memories that you have that you want to commemorate? Create your own custom military service ring to help you to hold onto your fond memories.
