A very recent US drone attack has killed at least six militants in a remote Pakistani tribal town near the Afghan border as local people celebrated the Muslim festival of Eid al-Fitr, security officials said.
Drone attacks are very unpopular in Pakistan but they are neccesary for the US because they are so effective. The Pakistanis see them as a violation of their soveriegnity but the problem is that they won’t do anything to hinger their efforts.
The drone fired two missiles on a compound in Shuwedar village in Shawal district of the troubled North Waziristan region, considered a stronghold of Taliban and Al-Qaeda linked militants. The missiles were fired into a terrorist compound but no actual names of targets has been released.
Officials do say that militants carried out at least six bodies. Residents and local intelligence officials confirmed the attack and the casualties. The missiles also destroyed a car parked at the compound, they said.
The biggest terrorist threat in Pakistan is the Haqqanis. They are too proud to concede to the US even though we have successfully neutralized al-Qaeda.
The US will not discontinue the drone campaigns because they are too valuable in the fight. I believe that the drone campaign is the most brilliant military strategy that we can use in this war. I believe that the success of this campaign has saved countless lives of our custom military ring customers who are now serving in Afghanistan.
