Order an Iraqi Freedom War Veteran Military Ring

Operation Iraqi Freedom was the war that displayed many of the lessons that we learned from Operation Desert Storm. We learned for example that you don’t neccessarily need to overwhelm the enemy with manpower in order to win a war.

Many of the Generals who had never fought this type of war criticized the planners because they felt that the amount of manpower sent to fight the war just was not adequate for the mission that needed to be accomplished.

The planners realized onr thing that the armchair generals didn’t. They knew that we could rely on the capability of our technology. Much of it had been developed during and after Operation Desert Storm.

Operation Iraqi Freedom went over so well that our troops had to pause their advance into Iraq which was moving too swiftly for other elements to catch up.

We were caught short because when Baghdad fell we didn’t have a plan in place to institute civil law. Anarchy ruled and our troops could really do nothing about it at first because they were trained to be soldiers, airmen, and marines, not policemen or civil authorities.

They quickly learned and gained control of Iraq until a government could be put in place. Our military will have to apply the lessons learned from this war to other wars fought under the same circumstances in the future.
