Military Ring Info

When I think about the time that I spent in the military the thing that I miss the most was the teamwork. There is such a feeling of satisfaction that a military leader gets when his troops work together to pull off an operation.

Each man has a specific job to do and each job contributes to the mission. If one of them fails the fate of the others will be in jeopardy. Thats the way that military teamwork goes. All of our military ring customers know how to operate as a team.

Sometimes a custom military ring customer will wind up with a group of individuals that he or she has never seen before but each one will know their individual job. they will instantly meld together and perform as a team because they are used to operating as a team.

If I consider all of the things that I miss from my time in the military the teamwork will have to top the list. Military teamwork, (as all of my military ring customers know) can’t be duplicated in the civilian world.

The US and NATO are fighting a war of a totally different color in Afghanistan. This war is totally different than anything that we have ever faced before. Our custom military ring customers who are fighting this war have had to adapt their tactics and equipment in ways that they never have before.

This war has caused countless modifications to existing military equipment and countless types of new equipment to be developed.

I also see a change in Air Force tactics and there may be an organizational realignment because of this war. You may ask me why I say this and I will tell you that the reason is because of the emergence of the use of drones and the specialized training of the personnel needed to operate them. The drone has proven itself in this war along with the Osprey which our marine corps ring customers use.

Special Operation forces have made a dramatic contribution to this war and as a result may be used differently in the future. My Navy SEAL ring customers and Army Special Forces ring customers have made a dramatic contribution and have received many awards in this war. This war has marked the beginning of a new era for our military ring customers.

The Afghan president is looking at ways of nearly doubling the size of his army and police force. The reason is that he wants his country to not have to rely on international troops to maintain its own security. Its a very good thing that the Afghan people want their autonomy. It is good to all of our military ring customers serving there because the sooner the Afgan government gets on their feet the sooner they can come home.

It sounds to me  that president Karzai is under pressure from Afghans to get international troops removed from the country. It is not good for foreign troops to be in any country so I can understand where the Afghan president is coming from on this one. I know that our custom military ring customers who are currently serving in afghanistan would love to come home.

My question though is that when he builds this large force will the quality of his troops suffer? Many of his troops are double agents as it is so I wonder is he increases the size of his army will he get more troops who are reliable? There are too many factors involved for me to try to make an educated guess so I’ll just leave the question on the table. Some of you operation enduring freedom ring customers who are close to whats happening there should tell us what you think.

The Russian prime minister has announced their plans to produce a new long range stealth bomber.  This will be the Russians first stealth bomber and its second stealth airplane. Production of the actual bomber will probably begin in 2025-2030. 

Now my military ring customers in my humble opinion the fact that Russia is just getting to the point of producing stealth technology shows how much they have suffered from the collapse of their economy. This is a far cry from the days of the cold war that I remember. When the Soviets and the US were involved in the arms race they would almost immediately acquire and duplicate US technology but obviously times are tough for them.

The new strategic bomber that they will have is designed to replace their TU-95 andTU-160 bombers.

I think that we can safely say that the cold war years that us older warriors remember are long gone. No more two super powers attempting to match each other tit for tat. You younger military ring customers who may not have been around during those days but our training doctrine was much different than it is today. Our strategy was to fight outnumbered and win because the WARSAW pact countries outnumbered us in every category of equipment and personnel. During those days we knew that in the event of a war with Russia we would probably have to use battlefield nukes.

Attaullah Wahab who was a deputy provincial police chief in Kapisa province was arrested by NATO forces and is accused of assisting the Taliban by storing, distributing, and installing IED’s in Afghanistan. There is also a list of other criminal activities which he is accused of.

This underscores the problems that NATO has had with the Afghan police force. We have blogged before on incidents where Afghan policemen have turned and attacked NATO troops while on patrol together.

This is definitely one of the weak links in the chain of conquering al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. You custom military ring customers who have been following this blog may remember the posts that we have made before about this situation.

The United States has taken several steps in an iniatiave to help the Afghan government clean up its act. We have screened many of the existing members of the Afghan police force to insure that they are drug free and have no criminal connections. Afghan police were also given a raise in salary and pay incentives to make their pay closer to that of the Taliban fighters. Our operation enduring freedom ring customers who work in close coordination with the Afghan police have to exercise caution in their daily operations.

The Iranians have announced that they will produce two different drones for surveillance and at least one of the drones will be able to launch long range missile attacks. At least that is what they are saying.

The underlying purpose seems to me to be to spy on and attack Israel. There are no other countries in the region which they need long range drones to surveil and attack.

One way that I see this and maybe many of my military ring customers agree with me is this. Imation is the sincerest form of flattery. The fact that the Iranians feel that they need to produce drones is a testament to the job that they must be doing against terrorists.

The names of the drones will be Ra’d which means thunder. Obviously this will be the drone to launch missiles, and Nazir (herald).

The Iranians are also looking to beef up their air defenses. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out. they want an enhanced capability against Israeli air strikes.

Our government will issue new stamps which will honor four of the Navies greatest heroes. The sailors to be honored are; Arleigh A Burke, John McCloy, Doris Miller, and William S Sims.

These men all distinguished themselves by exemplary service to our country and are worthy of mention here.

Arleigh Burke was a decorated warrior who served three terms as the Chief of Naval Operations which is the highest rank that can be held in the Navy.

John McCloy was one of the very few men to be awarded two medals of honor. he was also awarded the Navy Cross for valor. In one of his medal of honor incidents he was cited for deliberately putting his ship in the line of enemy fire so that the enemy could be located.

Doris Miller was the mess attendant who distinguished himself during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He manned a 50cal machinegun during the attack and engaged Japanese aircraft. The significant thing here is that he had never been trained to operate the 50cal. He also rescued many wounded sailors who were otherwise trapped aboard his vessel.

The last hero is William S Sims. He served as the commander of Naval forces in Europe during WWII. He is credited with the transformation of our Navy into the modern fighting force that it is.

The postage stamp is one mechanism used to honor our countries heroes. If you served in the navy the Navy ring is another way for individual sailors to commemorate their time in service.

Homegrown terrorism is a legitimate concern and the question now in government circles is how much of a threat does it pose to our population.

To be perfectly honest with all of you military ring customers out there I don’t perceive domestic terrorism as a major threat. If we look at the time that we have been in the war on terror you will see that there have not been any significant incidents of domestic terrorism in the United States (that I am aware of).

The fanaticism which leads to terrorism seems to be something which is learned. It is a grave mistake to perceive all Muslim people as fanatics or terrorists. We can attribute terrorism to certain sects of Islam which don’t seem to be prevalent in the US.

You military ring customers can correct me if I’m wrong on this one but terrorism seems to be bred out of an indoctrination to hate. It seems to be more of a cultural than a religious issue.

I have to add here that most acts of domestic terrorism which have been committed in this country have been  racially motivated and not a matter of religious extremism.

We can’t expect the government to be able to magically protect us from every threat. We as Americans have to be vigilant and ready to do our part to combat acts of domestic terrorism.

US troops are gearing up for the biggest part of the new offensive in Afghanistan. The offensive action thus far seems to have been to capture the area around Marjah. It seems that the city of Marjah is the focus of the offensive so this is where the biggest part of the battle will take place.

NATO forces are consolidating for the attack and once again we are letting the civilian population know that they should be prepared to leave the city.

This will be the most difficult part of the offensive begause fighting is tougher for the attacking force in an urban environment. The structures which are indigenous to the big city offer defenders cover and concealment from the invading attackers. Buildings offer excellent protection from enemy fire and there are thousands of good hiding places inside of cities which you may not see on a normal battlefield.

Cities also give the defenders concealed avenues of movement through the streets and alleyways. The defenders can move easily and quickly through the streets without being seen and they can mass forces very easily. The city by nature of its narrow streets gives its defenders excellent kill zones where they can methodically take out the attackers.

The advanced technology that our military ring customers have will do a lot to equalize the advantages of the defenders by providing real time battle intelligence. We wish our troops well. 

I don’t know if you remember the recent post that we did on the CIA suicide bomber who managed to blow himself up and kill 7 CIA agants and his Jordanian handler in a suicide bomb attack in an CIA outpost in Afghanistan.

Well my beloved military ring customers a video which he made before his death has surfaced. In the video he talks about he is misleading his handlers and his plans to blow them up. He is also saying that the opportunity to kill some American CIA at the same time has come up and he was planning to take advantage of it. He also talks about how he has misled the Jordanians by providing them with false information.

The essence of his suicide attack seems that he really wanted revenge on the Jordanian government. It seems to me (and I could be wrong) that he regarded the Jordanian government as traitors because of their past support of the US and its allies. He seemed to view his recruitment as a spy as an opportunity for him to be able to contribute to the war efforts against the US and its allies.
