The garrison cap or cover is a foldable cap with straight sides and a creased or hollow crown sloping to the back. The garrison cap is normally worn with the class A uniform. It came into use during the first world war and was initially worn by the doughboys. The big advantage of wearing this cap is that once you go inside you can fold it and put it in your pocket if neccessary.
The garrison cap has been replaced by the beret by the Army, but is stil used by the Air Force and Marine Corps. Since the Army is about to transition to the blue uniform the fate of the garrison cap is uncertain. The garrison cap goes well with the class A uniform as well as the custom Balfour military rings which we offer for our military customers.
