This old warrior was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in the Korean War in 1952. He is truly an American hero who deserves to be mentioned and remembered. I was truly impressed when I read the citation for his award and I want to share it with you. This should encourage you military ring customers and make you feel proud to be a part og the US Armed Forces. It should give you Air Force military ring customers special pride in your corps.
Maj Davis was on a combat patrol with two other F-86 Sabres of which he was leader when they spotted enemy MIGs in the Yalu valley who were obviously on their way to intercept a friendly bombing mission which was under way in the area.
Even though his force was outnumbered 12 to 3 he pressed forward with an attack. After he shot down two MIGS he was under heavy fire when he decided to take out a third. He had to slow his air speed to do so which is when his fighter was hit with enemy fire. His actions caused the enemy fighters to have to break formation and saved the bombers from attack.
