What Sank the Cheonan?

March 30, 2010 posted by OldWarrior

cheonanThe jury is still out as to what sank the South Korean Navy ship which exploded and sank in the disputed territorial waters between the two countries recently.

There was an explosion aboard the ship which caused it to sink and also cost the lives of 46 of its crew.

There could have been a number of reasons for the accident or incident but the logical cause seems to have been a mine. If it was a mine it could have been deliberately set or it could be a holdover from the Korean War. Personally my Navy ring customers I believe it was a mine but we don’t know yet. The actual cause will not be known until the wreckage of the ship is examined. The ship was carrying live munitions so we can’t rule this out as the cause. We will keep our military ring customers posted on the outcome of this story.

Russian Bombers Play Tag

blackjack bombersThe picture that you see here is two Russian Tu-160 Blackjack Bombers flying over the coast of Scotland. You may ask why are they flying over Scotland? My answer to you grasshopper is that that is a darn good question. For what I understand is that they have began to make it a habit to fly over British airspace and turn around just short of the coast of Ireland.

My guess is they are simply testing the response capabilities of the British Air Force. some of you Air Force ring customers who follow this blog may want to jump in here and let the rest of us know what the deal is on this.

Another guess that I would make is that they may be testing some new technology of their own by goading the British Air Force into a predictable response. I think that all of you Air Force ring customers know that two solo bombers are not much of a threat. I think that the Russians know that two of these bombers invading British airspace won’t cause too much excitement. Thats probably why they do it. I would bet you that there are some of you pilot’s ring customers in the US Air Force who have probably seen similar type incidents.

Black WidowsI was surprised to find out that the real perpretrators of the subway bombings in Russia recently were women. My first thought was al-Qaida but I thought it was odd that al-Qaeda would attack Russia since they don’t really have a beef with the Russians.

The attackers were believed to be the daughters of Chechnyan fighters who had been killed by the Russian Army in previous fighting. I then found out that this was not the first time bombings of this type had taken place. I don’t know about you my military ring customers but I certainly would not want to cross any of these women

At this present time there is a count of 37 dead and 100 injured which I hope dosen’t go any higher but you never know. Those of you custom military ring customers who actually study warfare know that this is a perfect example of asymetric warfare. This is the type of warfare that a smaller, weaker force has to employ in order to defeat a larger force.

Our President’s Surprise Visit to Afghanistan

March 29, 2010 posted by StylinSoldier

obama and karzaiPresident Obama made a surprise night visit to Afghanistan last week to talk to President Hamid Karza, General Stanley McChrystal, Ambassador Karl Elkenberry, and many of our Operation Enduring Freedom military ring customers.

The important thing in this phase of the troop surge is to win the hearts and minds of the Afghan people. Do you see how President Karzai has that I just got my butt kicked look on his face? Do you see that I just kicked somebodies butt look on President Obama’s face?

Our president had to speak in person with Karzai about curbing the opium trade and his dealings with Afghan warlords. The government of Afghanistan is perceived to be corrupt which is not a good thing for the troop surge. If Afghan civilians are disgruntled with the government it will be difficult to obtain their cooperation to keep the Taliban out of captured territory. Especially after we leave. This is a critical point in the troop surge and our military ring customers will be greatly effected by public perception of the Afghan population.

The Advent of Internet Terorrism

March 29, 2010 posted by StylinSoldier

larose3.11lg.jpgThe Internet is a tool used by terrorists to recruit and train some individuals to conduct terror attacks.

There are some major advantages to using the internet to recruit and train jihadists in my opinion.

The biggest is that the internet eliminates time and distance. It also eliminates expense associated with training raw recruits. The recruit gets rudimentary training in whatever area that he needs. It may not be the same quality training that he or she would get at a terrorist training camp but it could conceivably be enough to do some major damage. it puts me in the mindset of the kamikazee training of WWII. The pilots were only trained enough to fly into a target.

Terrorists can recruit the “lone wolf personality” to do their terror acts. They have not been effective so far but we know of several near misses. http://www.militaryringexpress.com

A South Korean Ship Sinks Near North Korea

March 28, 2010 posted by OldWarrior

s korean shipThe “Cheonan” which is an unspecified type of South Korean Navy vessel sank recently in the disputed waters between the two countries. There was a reported explosion right before the ship began to take on water and sank which led to speculation that the North Korean Navy had something to do with it.

Now I’m sure htat all of you military ring customers can imagine what happened next. I’ll  bet that the militaries pf both South Korea had their alert status changed to high, and all of our Navy ring customers in South Korea went on full alert with more ships bing dispatched to the area. I wasn’t there but I am making some educated speculation based on my military experience.

There were an unspecified number of injuries and deaths in the incident which highlights the dangers that our military ring customers are exposed to every day. http://www.militaryringexpress.com

Mr Panetta Gives the CIA Good Grades

March 27, 2010 posted by OldWarrior

cia directorMe Leon Panetta declared recently that the CIA essentially has al-Qaeda on the run in the war on terror. The combination of our military ring customers combined with the psychology of a multifaceted attack on al-Qaeda has got to be much more than they expected.

I personally believe that the use of the drone in combat is making a major difference in the ground war. The CIA has sucessfully eliminated more than half of the top 20 al-Qaeda leaders in recent months. This tells the story of our success in the war.

I have also mentioned before that there hasn’t been a successful terror attack in the United States  since 9/11. This is not an accident. This is a testament to the work that the CIA is doing along with our military ring customers in all branches of the armed forces. Al-Qaeda is not playing dead they want to get at us and I don’t believe for one minute that they aren’t doing everything in their power to do so.

I marvel at the fact that in a society as open and porus as ours that our government has kept us safe from harm. Many are working hard and dying to keep us safe while we sleep at night. It all starts with our custom military ring customers who serve in every corner of the world.

marjah2.15th.jpgThe question is how will the United States and its allies approach the battle on Kandahar in Afghanistan. The word is that it will be a very deliberate and measured occupation of that region.

There are several reasons for this but before I talk about them let me highlight the assault on Marjah. Obviously the strategy for that assault was right on point. The area was taken and is now under NATO control. The strategy for taking Kandahar will be more deliberate. This operation will give civilians time to move away from areas which are to come under attack and will insure fewer civilian casualties. It will also give terrorists in the area a chance to escape before hostilities begin.

A deliberate occupation will also give our military planners and troops time to plan every facet of the operation and execute accordingly. This should also result in fewer casualties for our military ring customers.

The Taliban Conducts Another Suicide Bombing

March 27, 2010 posted by StylinSoldier

talibanThe Taliban has managed to get another jab in on our military ring troops stationed in Afghanistan. The latest incident involved a Taliban fighter who was able to disguise himself as an Afghan policeman and infiltrate a NATO base on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He was able to get in close to a group of troops and detonate the vest that he was wearing. There were 2 friendly troops killed in the attack and an unspecified number were injured but I don’t know what their nationalities were.

We must not forget that al-Qaeda is fighting tooth and nail to take out as many of us as they can. They will come up with every plan possible if it will help them to kill us. We seem to be safe here at home which is due mainly to the hard work of our military ring customers who serve in every branch of the armed forces.
