Military Ring Info

It seems that one of the aims of the troop surge is to push the Taliban into a mind to negotiate a peace settlement. I have posted on this subject before and it still sounds like a good idea to me. The strategy should be that we kick them in the teeth during the troop surge enough to let them know that they can’t win. Then offer them a way out by use of a negotiated peace settlement. That way they get to save face and get out of the war.

Lets face it. Our goal should not be to destroy the Taliban because tat just isn’t feasible. Lets get on some kind of terms with them and leave their country.

We have wasted many lives in that country and spent an enormous amount of money. On the plus side, this war has forced us to stretch and develop new tactics and equipment. Hopefully Operation Enduring Freedom will go down in history as a major success for my military ring customers and for the people of afghanistan.

The United States is set tp sell about 6 billion worth of weapons to Taiwan. This is part of a deal made between the United States and Taiwan during the Bush administration in 2001.

The Chinese will obviously resist the deal because thay have been building a masive military for years. In addition they really want to annex Taiwan and have been using threats to invade if Taiwan tries to declare their independance.

Those of you custom military ring customers who have been following this blog may remember several posts that I have made warning that we should keep an eye on China. Well I still maintain that we should keep a watchful eye on the Chinese. They have been beefing up their forces for quite awhile. In my humble opinion the Taiwanese have every right to arm themselves especially in the face of the threats that the Chinese have made.

This move also shows the Chinese that we are not concerned with their sword rattling. Some say that it won’t help US and cinese relations, but backing down from them won’t help us either.

The US Air Force is trying out different bombing tactics in Afghanistan in an effort to reduce civilian casualties from air strikes.

The tactics consider of a lot of what I call Saber rattling tactics. What I mean by this is that they will only drop bombs in populated areas when it is absolutely necessary. Airplanes will drop more non lethal flares, and do more flyovers which will be designed to cause enemy forces to scatter out of fear.

The reason for this is that they are doing all that they can to minimize civilian casualties. The bombs and ordnance that we use is designed to kill and thats exactly what it does. The problem is that in this war the targets are small in number so unfortunately civilians are often killed. Killing innocents does nothing whatsoever to help win the battle for the hearts and minds of the Afghan people.

Often civilians are caught up in the middle of the battle which is often by the degign of the Taliban. Regardless of how it happens, when US ordinance kills innocents we are made the goats of the operation. Our Enduring Freedom ring customers who are serving in Afghanistan will be forced to find a way around this situation to remain effective in this war. 

President Obama reiterated that we have no plans to send troops to Yemen or Somalia despite al-Qaeda’s growing operations in those countries.

I personally believe that we can bring about our own military and financial collapse if we try to follow al-Qaeda everywhere that they pop up. To be perfectly honest we will never be able to completely eradicate the threat that they pose to the safety of Americans throughout the world.

We have certainly been able to keep them at bay so maybe it is in our best interest to refine those things that have helped us to do so. I forsee an expanded use of drone technology to assist us in fighting terror in those areas. We have recently made tremendous strides in our drone capability to acquire intelligence and to strike at known targets.

Another advantage that we have is the ability of our special operations troops to snatch known al-Qaeda operatives.

At the very most maybe we may need to use a small number of advisors to help the governments of those two countries to deal with al-Qaeda within their borders. The one thing tat we do need is the cooperation of those two governments. Our troops are already stretched thin and ragged out. I’m sure that our custom military ring customers will agree that sending troops can’t solve every problem that we may encounter with al-Qaeda.

The US Military and our President are taking steps to end the “Don’t ask don’t tell” policy of our armed forces which was put in place during the Clinton presidential era.

There have been gay men and women serving in the armed forces since I can remember so it is not a new thing. Troops who were gay normally did a better job than the average troop because they knew that public sentiment was against them. No Commander in his right mind would attempt to have a good soldier kicked out regardless of who he or she was because of the job that that soldier did for the unit.

Now I don’t believe that we should generate any special rules and regulations to favor gay men and women in the military, or for any other group of people. I also believe that all inappropriate sexual behavior should be punished whether it be from straight or gay troops.

The military has rules against the open display of many things because it is not a democracy, and it should never be. This should not change. The military is the military. This is only the opinion of the custom military ring man. Every person has his or her own opinion. Many of you don’t know this but I am a black man. I never place my picture on this blog because I know that if many of you saw it you would not even read the articles. So I don’t openly advertise or display my race. Although it shouldn’t matter it does to some of you. Thats life. It is what it is so we have to use some wisdom and deal with it. 

For all  intents and purposes it appears that the insurgenncy in Iraq is over. There is still some sporadic action but that will probably be the case for a long time to come. Our military has done a marvelous job in clearing up the insurgency.

The fate of Iraq is now in the hands of their new government. They will have some problems in the future but problems are a way of life. the Iraqis should be able to stand with our help and their continued committment.

Our troops had to transition to a whole new way of warfare during Operation Iraqi Freedon. They also had to make the transition from soldier to police force which they also did. They showed versatility, and ingenuity during this operation.

Unfortunately many of our troops have given their lives in support of this operation. The Iraqi and the American people have a debt of gratitude that we can never repay to these fallen warriors.

Accept the condolences of the custom military ring man for each and every soldier, sailor, airman and marine who has served in this conflict. You deserve our appreciation.

No news is good news. I sincerely believe that these troops have been the biggest reason that there have been no more terror attacks launched on US soil.
