Military Ring Info

Former President Bush warns that the Taliban and al-Qaeda can not be allowed to return to power in Afghanistan. These remarks came during a speech Delhi, India.

I don’t think that the former president made these remarks as any kind of veiled criticism of the Obama administrations policies on Afghanistan but he seems to be attempting to rally the Indian people to the cause. You can say what you want about Mr Bush but he has always been professional in the way that he deals with issues such as this.

These comments seem to be addressed towards the comeback that insurgents are attempting to make in Afghanistan and the lack of credibility and control exerted by the Afghan government. In order to win this war we must have the Afghan government to step up in these areas. We need for this thing to end up like we want it to so that our custom military ring customers will have a good story to tell.

There have been a total of 14 Americans killed in recent helicopter crashes in Afghanistan recently with 3 crashes in the same day.

Information is skecthy, but in the first crash a total of 10 americans were killed and 26 Americans and Afghans were wounded. The irony of this situation is they were returning from a firefight when they were killed. Ain’t that a kick.

In the second incident 2 choppers collided which caused the deaths of 4 Americans and 2 more being wounded.

The cause of the first crash is not known so it may or may not be from hostile fire.

Many of my Operation Iraqi Freedom military ring and Operation Enduring Freedom ring customers have chosen to honor their friends who were killed in battle by engraving their initials or names on the side panel of their military ring. I have also had some customers who placed their friends name or initials around the inside of their military ring. Lets continue to pray for the safety and safe return of our soldiers in Afghaniatan. Let us hope that whatever strategy that our government comes up with to fight this thing is the right one. let’s pray that this thing will be over soon. 

Our Coast Guard is still standing tall. We haven’t posted anything about them lately but that dosen’t mean that they are not on the job. The USS Anzio (GC 68) confiscated 4 tons of hashish from a drug boat in the Gulf of Aden on the 15th of October this year. The Anzio was operating as part of the Combined Maritime Forces in the area when they spotted the skiff acting strangely. 

The Combined Maritime Force is a multinational force which was created to fight piracy in the area. The drug seizures are icing on the cake but believe me they have been some kind of good icing. The CMF has seized 22 tons of narcotics this year. Thats good but they will have to hump to catch up with last years capture of 53 tons of narcotics.

It is believed that most of the narcotics seized was being sold to help finance the insurgents fighting our military forces in the middle east. This is the type of news that we Coast Guard military ring people who write the posts for this site like to report.

During a recently US led UN investigation of the Afghan presidential election results incumbent president Hamid Karzai lost almost 1 million votes which were deemed fraudulent.

The election results were readjusted which now warrants a runoff. His top contender Abdullah Abdullah lost 201,000 votes.

President Karzai’s percent of the popular vote dropped from 54 to 48. Mr Abdullah has 35% of the vote. This is the first step in legitimizing the government before we can get serious about kicking the insurgents out of the country. The legitimate government has little or no control over most of the country and confidence needs to be established. This step is crucial because the government will be the foundation for everything that is done in the country.

A runoff now has to take place which President Karzai should be able to win. His opponent must agree with the process first so that the winner of the run off will be totally legit. This would put a real government in place and close the door to all allegations which would cause future problems.

Once additional troops are added to the mix to retake territory the new government should be able to better exert control. Hopefully this thing will be over soon and some of my military ring customers who have ordered form Afghanistan will meet us face to face. 

You may wonder where  the term government service rings originated. The story behind that concept is this; We have offered military rings for years and we have a boatload of designs that we use to help you to design them.

There are several special designs that deal exclusively with government service. There are also a bunch of designs that we have which are not military. While we were viewing the designs and it dawned on us that if used our imagination. We could help our customers use a ring to show their affiliation with either the federal or local government. We feel as if the response to this will be overwhelming and it has already been very good.

The US government recently finished evaluating and wargaming its plans for troop deployments in Afghanistan. This seems to be a part of the reassessment of the war that president Obama ordered before he commits more troops to the region. It seems that both strategies were reviewed step by step against what we know to see which one is more feasible to use. Hopefully this way most possible contingencies will be covered. You can never account for every possible thing that can happen in war. Sometimes you just have to get to a point where you feel that you have done just about all that you can do and go for it. Tell your people that if its wrong make it work anyway.

The plan sems to be to put a full court press on militants in the critical areas where they are strong. Those places are where the overwhelming American force will be used. What is critical to the plan is that the Aghan government be strong enough to hold on to the gains that we make. Once again I will call on my custom military ring customers who happen to be in Afghanistan now to help us out on this one. If we are way off on anything let us know.

The people who were killed in this bombing were mostly women and children. The area where the attack took place was specifically targeted because it contained women and children. Obviously the intent is to destroy the will of the Pakistani people to press on with the current offensive against insurgents.

The attack took place in the city of Peshawar during the same time that Hillary Clinton was in country although she was three hours away at the time of the bombing. There were an additional 200 people wounded in the attack.

The attack seemed to be in retaliation to the recent offensive that the Pakistani Government has launched which leads me to believe that they are putting a hurt on the terrorists. It should encourage the Pakistanis to push even harder to completely drive out the rest of the insurgents. I know that it would have infuriated me and caused me to fight harder. Since this area seems to be really heating up and Iraq is cooling the military ring man will be keeping you informed of events as I learn them. 

The Pakistani Army is fighting hard to mop up al-Qaeda and Taliban strongholds along the Afghan border. I did a post not very long ago at the start of this offensive where I questioned the resolve of the Pakistanis and their will to drive these combatants out of the border region.

The combatants have used the area to mount terror attacks on both sides of the border so the area has been a sore spot for US, Afghan, and Pakistani forces alike. If this offensive is successful it will result in benefits for all three countries

So far the Pakistanis estimate about 60 enemy KIA’s and say that they have lost 6 of their own soldiers. The offensive has been announced before hand in order to give noncombatants a chance to clear out so the enemy was not surprised. The purpose of a modular pistol would be for diversity and convenience. A modular pistol would allow the user to swap out parts to meet situational requirements. At the same time it would give the Army one single weapon which would have many applications. A tanker might not need the same type of pistol as a military policeman etc., etc. 

Caliber, barrell length, and grip size are the three components which they want to be interchangeable. I would imagine caliber to be the most important factor, with barrell length being the second most important. From what I read I don’t think that this is to be an all encompassing sweep. This project does seek to find a replacement for the M-9. I agree with the versatility that this concept would give the Army. I like the concept of versatility and flexibility as you can see by the way that we use so many designs for our custom military rings. 

The cipher machine is used to encrypt or decrypt messages which need to be kept secret from prying eyes. The machine that you see here  is the famed enigma machine which the Germans used during WWII. We were not able to decipher the messages that were encrypted with the enigma but we were fortunate enough to capture one which gave us access to all of their encrypted messages.

I don’t know exactly how these things work but I understand that encrypting a message is not the same thing as encoding it. The encrypting device uses mathematical algorithms to change the character of the mesage so that the only way to decrypt it is to find out what the specific algorithim is and use it to read the message.
