If you have ever been a part of this storied unit you can use the resources available to us to create your own Custom 101st Airborne Division Ring.
The 101st has the nickname of “Screaming Eagles” and has a rich military history. It is best known for its exploits during the Normandy Operation and the Battle of the Bulge in WWII. When you see the old war movies which I could never get enough of as a child (and even now). Many times the 101st was the unit being portrayed.
The 101st was origionally an Airborne (paratrooper) division but during the Vietnam War it was changed to an Airmoble (transports its troops by helicopter) Division. The 101st has also seen action in Operations: Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. The division has also served in humanitarian efforts in Rwanda, and Somalia.
The 101st is located in Fort campbell Kentucky and is the home of the Air Assault school. We have written about the school in previous posts and will probably write about it again in the near future.
Those of you who have retired from our Air Force can use the resources available to us to produce
a custom Air Force Ring to tell the story of your time in service. The ring can be created in a variety of styles and metal choices which include, but are not limited to; gold, sterling silver, and celestrium.
The options available are too numerous to name here but you can view them on our website. You may also request a free catalog which gives a good representation of all of the available styles and designs.
We have served many customers over the years and you can be one of that number. these rings are guaranteed for life and the first resizing is free. On top of this all of the customization available to you dosen’t cost any extra money. The flat rate price includes everything that you can possibly squeeze onto your custom ring.
Obviously this operation was conducted by the 1st Armored Division. You can see that the name of the operation comes from the nickname of the 1st AD.
This operation was conducted during Operation Iraqi Freedom during 2004. For those of you who participated in this operation I can suggest that you use the 1st AD emblem along with the Iraqi Freedom Emblem as your two side panels. You could then write the words “Iron Promise” above one of the side panels of your Operation Iraqi Freedom Ring. You can do this in many other ways, this is just my humble suggestion.
The purpose of this operation was to root out elements of the old regime and anyone else who was a threat to the new Iraqi regime. The operation consisted of 600 patrols, and 43 escort missions which were a part of 3 major offensive operations. this was the mission of this division during its stay in Iraq in 2004.
The operation resulted in about 20 prisoners, and a moderate amount of arms and ammunition being captured. We can’t estimate the intangibles of the Division being there to support the Iraqi people. I wonder how things would have been for them if our soldiers hadn’t given up their freedom temporarily to help them.
We have finally completed our catalog project and have new catalogs available for all branches of military service. Our older catalogs listed all branches of service in one book which was fine but the addition of new designs necessitated the creation of different catalogs.
Now you can view the custom military ring designs which pertain only to your branch of service. You still have the option of mixing designs from different branches of service. For example, if you served in the Marine Corps, then the Army you can put designs from each one of those branches on the same ring.
You can view our designs on the web site or you may request a free catalog from us. If you need two catalogs that is fine also we just ask that you don’t request more than you intend to use.
CIA Interrogation Techniques Are Questioned
There is a continuing debate and many questions about interrogation techniques which the Bush administration sanctioned in order to extract information from terror suspects.
I am not writing this post to condone the Bush administration’s policies, or to denigrate them, but I must say this: This is a different situation. In a normal war I don’t really know if these practices would be right or wrong but lets keep one thing in mind. Terrorists have no compunction whatsoever about killing, maiming, and sawing the heads off of innocent people. I have no problem with the idea of aggressive interrogation techniques against terror suspects, but I would say that there should be no doubt about their identification. These techniques should not be used against innocents, even when there is a shadow of a doubt. Then there is the issue of control. When does the interrogator go too far. This is the game that terrorists started. They are prepared to pay the consequences. Let them pay.
I do feel that the CIA interrogator who beat the suspect to death should be punished. Its very hard for me to feel sympathy for anyone who kills innocent people. Since this is my blog I can say what I want. If you have a comment to make you can do so, but I will delete those which don’t give positive insight. State your mind but give a valid reason for your opinion. This has been one humble post by the military ring man.
Thank you on your promise to “Square Away” the soldiers who are trying to get out of their service obligation by using the birth certificate question which has been planted to cause doubt about our new Commander in Chief.
I am in total agreement with you on this one. First of all I thought that the state of Hawaii had produced the birth certificate. Secondly, the Commander in Chief does not answer to individual soldiers. I have never known it to be the other way around. This is no less than mutiny. My question to those who want to argue about the issue is how do you know? Where did you get your information from? Do you really have proof of what you assert? I find it hard to believe that someone could be elected President of the United States illegally.
Are you leaders in the military? What would you do if your surbordinates made the same accusation about you? Would you tolerate this kind of insuboudination?
It was my experience that the soldiers who always had complaints were always the sub-standard performers. Good soldiers obeyed orders without complaining.
I, like Mr. Ermey, do not profess a political party. I don’t vote along party lines. I use my keen perception to make my best judgement about individual candidates. My perception tells me that our President is the best man for the job right now. Until I see something different I will support our Commander in Chief. If my opinion changes about him in the future I will continue to serve, obey lawful orders, and keep my thoughts to myself. When did the military start to lose the loyalty of its members. www.militaryringexpress.com
The Afghan Presidential Election has been Declared Successful
The Afghan Presidential election has been declared successful by President Obama now that it is over. This is despite the Talibans many attempts to disrupt the proceedings, and to coerce people not to vote.
Hamid Karzai, and Abdullah Abdullah, who is his main opponent have both declared that they will abide by the election results.
Some of our soldiers sacrificed all in order to insure the right to vote for the people of Afghanistan and I certainly hope that it is appreciated. The sacrifice of military men and women for the good of all is nothing to take lightly. I remember many days of being tired, dirty, hungry, miserable, and cold all at the same time. The sacrifices that I made are nothing compared to others. Operation Enduring Freedom is certainly the right name for this operation, and I certainly hope that the freedom does endure for the people of Afghanistan. The price in bodies for this election were 17 Afghan security personnel, 9 civilians, and 20 insurgents. Let us never forget.
Our Coast Guard Has Rescued 2 Men in Florida
Two men were resued recently by the Coast Guard Station in Saint Petersburg Florida recently when the 12 foot boat that they were in overturned. The men were rescued when they were found clinging to pilings to stay afloat.
Accidents don’t seem to happen until you let your guard down. When I was in the military 99% of the accidents that I witnessed occurred when someone started to get lax about following proper procedures. Things would go right just long enough for us to become complacent then all hell would break loose.
My job as a leader was to enforce safety standards. I didn’t like to be a butt but sometimes people will do things that are absolutely ridiculous, especially when they are tired or peroccupied. Sometimes people just didn’t care. When that was the case it made things dangerous for all because someone else would have to take up the slack.
My custom military ring does not tell any of these tales of woe. I used it to tell of positive events which happened during my time of service.
The Coast Guard emphasizes boater safety and will even check your boat for free and tell you the steps that you need to take to stay safe. Common sense should tell you to wear a life jacket at all times. I know that I do whenever I am on the water. You should also have a functioning marine radio on board.
The purpose of the Guided Missile Destroyer is just about what the name implies. It is designed to launch guided missiles.
Guided Missile Destroyers can also be capable of performing anti-submarine, anti-ship, and anti surface operations. In the US Navy they will have the classification of DDG.
The complexion of our modern Navy has totally changed from what it was when I was a child. No longer do you see battleships bristling with guns slugging it out. This is the image that I remember as a child so it is the impression that has been with me all of these years. It is probably the same for most of you because hollywood has not glamourized Naval combat engagements since then. Which is so probably because there have been no major engagements.
Guided Missile Destroyers look innocent enough from the outside but they are far more lethal than any Destroyer that we may have seen on TV. Our Navy Servicemen are proud of their heritage and will often create a Custom Navy Ring to display the story of how they served our country.
Other Prisons Are Being Considered For GITMO Detainees
The US is looking for other locations to house Guantanimo Bay detainees because of the presidential decree that the prison will be closed in 2010. The closing of this facility will do a lot to erase bad memories associated with GITMO so in that sense it is a good thing.
Two of the locations under consideration are the prison located in Standish Michigan and the Federal prison located at Leavenworth Kansas. The State prison in Michigan is in an area which is financially depressed so the additional influx may help the economy by adding the requirement to add additional prison personnel. There are about 229 detainees which will have to be housed so the number is not large so it couldn’t be that much of a help but a little bit is better than nothing at all.
One of the biggest concerns of relocating the detainees to the continental US is that it will make the new location a terrorist target. I think that this is a legitimate concern because there is no telling how many terrorist cells are in operation in the United States. We definitely don’t want to give any extra reasons for attacks, but on the other hand they don’t really need a reason so it dosen’t matter. Take these thoughts from the Military Ring man for what they are.
