arlingtonThere are so many fallen heroes that it is certainally impossible to name them all or to know them all. I hope that your mind will be on those who have fallen in defense of our great nation. Remember that we owe them a debt that we can’t repay.

We can’t even tell them thank you for what you have done. Most of them were teenagers or young adults who did not get to live or enjoy the years of life that they should have had. They didn’t get a chance to share life with loved ones, or just to enjoy the simple everyday pleasures of freedom that their death purchased for you and I. There is no adequate way that we can thank them or even repay them. The only thing that we can do is remember them and appreciate them. Even now this country is involved in a conflict which is costing the lives of young servicemen and women. If you know a serviceman or woman do something to let them know that you appreciate them. If you know the family of a fallen serviceman do something for them to let them know that they have your support.

To all of the servicemen and women who may read this post we at www.militaryringexpress.com want to let you know that we appreciate your service and the conditions that you endure to insure our safety and freedom. Thank You.

Airborne Jumpwings

May 20, 2009 posted by OldWarrior

JumpwingsThis is another term for the parachutists badge. It is also affectionately known as a snowcone. This badge is awarded to all servicemembers who have successfully completed  US Army Airborne school or basic paratrooper training. The airborne course is a three week course consisting of three phases. The first week of training is known as ground week. During ground week trainees are indoctrinated into the intense physical regimen of the course and taught how to exit the aircraft along with proper landing techniques. This is probably the most important week of the program because correct landing technique is critical to avoiding injury. The most important bywords of the course are; “Keep your feet and knees together.” Seperation of the feet and/or knees upon impact with the ground will cause serious injury to the jumper. Jumpers are also taught how to assume the correct body position as they exit the aircraft and before impact in order to avoid injury.

The second week of training is known as tower week. During tower week jumpers get to exit towers which simulate the aircraft that they will be jumping from. Each exit and landing are carefully evaluated by the instructors otherwise known as “Black Hats” because of the distinctive black caps they wear. If the student shows that he or she has mastered exiting the aircraft and landing correctly he is allowed to continue to the third week of training known as jump week.

During jump week the student must sucessfully complete five training jumps in order to earn the parachutists badge. Two of those jumps must be in full combat gear and one must be at night. This is the phase of training that sees the most injuries. 99% of all injuries result from improper landing technique. This training is open to all branches of military service to include the Coast Guard. All branches of service are authorized to issue the badge to those who have completed the training. We offer several different options to our customers who want to purchase a Paratroopers ring which is otherwise known as  an Airborne Ring.

The Modern Day Destroyer

May 20, 2009 posted by StylinSoldier

destroyerThe destroyer is a fast and highly maneuverable warship which nowadays is capable of independant operations, but is normally used to protect larger ships (like Carriers) from attack. The destroyer may be capable of ship to ship, anti aircraft and anti submarine protection.

The modern destroyer is heavier and larger than most other ships and has superior firepower. this enables it to be used in many different roles, and to be equipped for many different missions. Destroyers are normally utilized in support of carrier battle groups, surface action groups, amphibious groups, and replenishment groups.

Modern destroyers may be equipped with cruise missiles, anti submarine helocopters, and other specialized equipment. If you look at the picture above you can see how the look of modern warships has changed over the years. Past warships would be bristling with gun tubes. Now ships are equipped with more modern missile defense and offensive systems so you don’t see a whole lot of gun tubes on any warship. If you or a loved one has served aboard a destroyer, or in support of a destroyer we can assist you in creating a custom US Navy ring to tell the story of your time in service.

Danger Close

May 20, 2009 posted by OldWarrior

artillery battery“Danger Close” is the term that the Field Artillery forward observer uses in his call for artillery to alert the fire direction center that the target that he wants obliterated is very close to him. In my day this was if the target was less than 600 meters away from the forward observer. This alerts the fire direction center to issue the command “Use Gunner’s Quadrant” to the gun chiefs.

Each gun chief will then take out a precision instrument called the gunner’s quadrant. He sets off the “quadrant’” or elevation of the tube on the instrument and seats it on the breech block of the tube. He then levels the bubbles of the gunner’s quadrant by refining the up and down direction of the tube. This insures an even greater accuracy in the distance that the shell travels, because the elevation of the tube when fired is one of the factors which influence the distance that the artillery shell travels.

If he dosen’t perform this action correctly he can kill a number of his own people. Each part of the field artillery team must perform exact functions or they will cause the deaths of friendly soldiers. Think about being in the field tired, hungry, cold, pressured, and having to move quickly because people’s lives depend on how well you do your job. There is absolutely no room for error under any circumstances regardless of whatever. There are many circumstances that those who have served will want to remember for life. The way to do this is to create your own custom military ring.

rings-photos-030.jpgWe have had many National Guard and Reserve customers over the years. What I want to do in this post is to give you some information on how you can put your National Guard Military ring, or custom National Guard Retirement ring together. The information that I will include here answers some of the most commonly asked questions that we receive from our national guard customers.

The first thing that we want to point out to you is that you can put your state affliation around the stone of your ring. You can do this for every state except Texas, for example, Alabama National Guard. We have side panel designs for many national guard units but not all. If we don’t have your unit crest you can write your unit designation above the side panel design of your ring. Many of our retiring customers will place their dates of service above one of the side panel designs. Many of our customers who have served attached to an active duty unit will use the unit crest of the active unit and place the designation of their home unit above it. If you have served in Operation Enduring Freedom, or Operation Iraqi Freedom you can choose either of those designs as your side panel.

rings-photos-035.jpgFrom time to time we get questions about our goldtone celestrium military rings. This post will attempt to answer some of the most commonly asked questions about our goldtone celestrium rings. These rings are also known as valadium. Celestrium is a jeweller’s alloy which is strong, durable, malleable, extremely chemically resistant to tarnishing and corrosion, and looks identical to our real gold rings. It takes a practised eye to tell the difference.

The goldtone celestrium is celestrium with a 14kt gold overlay. It comes with a lifetime guarantee also and is more resistant than gold to damage. The celestrium ring costs less than the gold ring and is a good alternative especially if you are on a budget, if you wish to wear your ring daily. or if you are afraid of losing it.

The celestrium ring comes with the antiqued finish, whereas gold rings can come with either the antiqued or natural finish. Every design that comes with the gold ring can be placed onto the celestrium ring.

The goldtone celestrium ring is an excellent choice if you want the exact look of 14kt yellow gold without having to pay the same price.

rings-photos-020.jpgThis post is to those of you who have served in Operation Enduring Freedom or you who want to create a custom Operation Enduring Freedom Ring for someone who has or will serve in Afghanistan. We will add posts which are more informative to you to assist you in designing your custom ring. We have found that while many of our customers want this kind of information in addition to the news and information that we provide on this blog site.

First of all you can put the words “Operation Enduring Freedom around the stone on your ring. This is an option that not many do not seem to be aware of. There is also an Operation Enduring Freedom side panel that you can use. Most customers will put their dates of service or place of service above this, but the choice is yours. Remember that you have the choice of adding another side panel to the other side of the ring. Many seem to forget this. There is much more that you can do. We have only given you a couple of pointers here, but feel free to call us at 912-877-4734 if you have additional questions about how to create your Operation Enduring Freedom Service ring.

First of all you can place your branch of service and the fact that you are retired around the stone of your ring. This will appear as; United States Army Retired” etc., depending on your branch of service. Many of our retirees will put their years of service above one of their side panels. Most will choose the designation of the unit that he or she served with as the other side panel design, however this is totally up to you.

rings-photos-026.jpgThis is the latest article on producing various types of military rings. I have noticed that while the news and information that we provide on our blog gets much attention, many people are looking for practical information on the product itself. We will make the next few posts informational on some of the various designs that you can use to create your custom military ring.

In this post we will discuss producing your Vietnam Veterans Ring. If you are a Vietnam Vet you can design your own custom Vietnam Veterans military ring, or if you know a Vietnam Vet you can design this ring as a gift. Remember that we are here to help you. If you get stuck don’t get frustrated, don’t hesitate to call us and we will get you on track.

The first thing that I would like to make clear to you is that you can state your involvement in the Vietnam war in the wording around the stone regardless of the branch of service that you were in. It would appear as “US Army Vietnam,” or Navy etc.

Many of our veterans will put their place of service or dates of service on the sides of the ring above the side panels. Keep in mind that your ring has two sides so you can put one or the other on each one. We will not attempt to cover every aspect of what you can do here but feel free to contact us at 912-877-4734, or check out the web site.

Create Your Own Custom Military Ring

May 15, 2009 posted by OldWarrior

rings-photos-004.jpgI am probably breaking some rules of protocol as I do the next few posts but I have noticed that more people view the posts in this blog that talk directly about the custom military ring and how you can design it. I perceive this as a need for information about the product itself so for the next few days I will talk about the product that we offer.

We like the custom military ring because you design the total product. You begin by choosing the style or shape of the ring that you want to design. You choose everything from the type of metal, color of the ring, designs that you want to place on the 2 sides of your ring, color of the stone, style of stone, design inside of the stone etc.

This souinds like a lot of information to have to sort thru, and it is, but it is easy to design your military ring because we have designed the web site to lead you step by step. In addition, we are only a phone call away. We have assisted many customers over the years and we know how to help you put your ideas onto a ring.  Once we can get a feel for what you want to do we can always come up with a way to do it.

A custom military ring is something that speaks for you or your loved ones time in service. It should tell the story that you want it to tell. We feel as if we are experts in helping you to do this. You should be proud of your time in service whether you served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard. We can help you if you have served as a member  of any Federal Agency. You are only limited by your imagination
