US Special Forces ring customers along with French Legionnaires and Afghan army troops have began a major offensive in the Uzbin Valley. I think that this is a symbolic offensive to show the Taliban that we can impose our will on them if we want to.
I believe it to be a retaliation for a Taliban ambush some months ago which caused the lives of 10 Legionnaires with many more being wounded.
I see this as part of a psychological operation designed to break their will. I believe that the plan for the troop surge is going to be more than 1 dimensional plan. A good strategy to me would be to really take the fight to them for about a year. Spare no costs to try to eradicate them and then offer them a way out of the fighting with a treaty which is not too harsh but gives us the upper hand. In the end we allow them to assimilate and to share power with the government. This is the custom military ring man’s solution. I should run for some kind of office.
