This is good news for all of our custom military ring customers who are in army infantry and Special Forces type units. From what I can see from reading about this weapon system it should give them a decided edge in a skirmish.
The advantage that this system gives is that it can kill combatants in defilade or behind cover. It reminds me of the 40mm grenade but it is a smart grenade with greater range. The Xm-25 has a range of about 700 meters. It fires a 25mm HEAB (high explosive air burst) round which has different sensors which are used to adjust its flight and burst. It can be programmed to burst at a specific height or distance. It delivers a burst of shrapnel which has an area effect on its target.
This system will definitely be an asset to our military ring customers in Afghanistan ad Iraq. It should give small units an edge in a firefight because it can take out combatants hiding behind obstacles at greater ranges than their small arms fire can reach back.
