Ranger Body Armor

Military Flak Jackets & Nato Military Vests The body armor which the 75th Ranger egiment recently replaced was known by the term “Ranger Body Armor.” Although it is not the body armor shown here. Ranger Body Armor was recently replaced by the Ranger Armor Vest. The biggest drawback to this piece of equipment was its weight (over 25 pounds).

The heavy weight caused many Rangers to just chuck it. Of course the result of this was that injuries increased so the Army had to come up with a better solution. My US Army Ranger military ring customers can tell you how uncomfortable it is to have to wear extra cumbersome equipment. This is especially true in a place like Afghanistan where the terrain is rugged and the climate can be brutally hot. Add to this the fact that you may have to walk long distances to find and chase an enemy who dosen’t want to be found.

This piece of body armor consisted of a kevlar vest with 2 ceramic plates which were inserted in the front and back for extra protection. It was impressive because it could protect against AK-47 rifle fire. We will do a post in the future about its replacement vest.
