One pilot missing in a recent crash of two F-16′s is presumed to be dead. The pilots were part of the 20th Tactical Fighter Wing and were engaged in a training exercise when the crash occured. Both planes collided over the ocean. Capt Nicholas Giglio is still missin while Capt Lee Bryant was able to safely land his F-16 at Charleston AFB.
The Coast Guard has been searching the area but there is very little chance that Capt Giglio was able to eject before the crash occured. In addition there were no distress signal picked up from Capt Giglios equipment which would have began to beacon if he had ejected.
Unfortunately this accident is one of the realities of military life. Every person in the military knows that he or she is at risk during training. Peacetime safety precautions are sometimes excessive but yet we can never prevent accidents from happening every once in awhile.http://www.militaryringexpress.com
