Afghan Police Are Opposed to A US Troop Surge

Afghan Police say no to US Troop SurgeI can’t really blame them for the way that they feel because after all it is their country and we are the outsiders. On the flip side of the coin we have a job to do and we must use whatever we have at our disposal to defeat the terrorists there. I don’t think that we can ever totally defeat the Taliban because there are just too many places for them to hide, and there are too many adverse factors effecting our forces.

For one thing the Afghan government doesn’t even have control over most of the country, never has, and probably never will so how can an occupying force accomplish control?

We didn’t ask for this war we are just trying to finish it. We should establish a time table for withdrawal based on the establishment of certain goals  and not on the anniliation of our enemies because we can’t kill them all.

The strategy that we are using now is to accompany the Afghan police on their patrols and let them deal with the local populace as much as possible. This strategy is good because it take our forces out of the bad guy role.

This has been a “Let me get my two cents worth in,” episode brought to you courtesy of your Operation Enduring Freedom military ring man. They need to make me president of something, I bet I’ll handle it.
