The picture that you see here is two Russian Tu-160 Blackjack Bombers flying over the coast of Scotland. You may ask why are they flying over Scotland? My answer to you grasshopper is that that is a darn good question. For what I understand is that they have began to make it a habit to fly over British airspace and turn around just short of the coast of Ireland.
My guess is they are simply testing the response capabilities of the British Air Force. some of you Air Force ring customers who follow this blog may want to jump in here and let the rest of us know what the deal is on this.
Another guess that I would make is that they may be testing some new technology of their own by goading the British Air Force into a predictable response. I think that all of you Air Force ring customers know that two solo bombers are not much of a threat. I think that the Russians know that two of these bombers invading British airspace won’t cause too much excitement. Thats probably why they do it. I would bet you that there are some of you pilot’s ring customers in the US Air Force who have probably seen similar type incidents.
