I Miss the Teamwork

March 4, 2010 posted by admin

Army-basic-trainingLARGE.jpgWhen I think about the time that I spent in the military the thing that I miss the most was the teamwork. There is such a feeling of satisfaction that a military leader gets when his troops work together to pull off an operation.

Each man has a specific job to do and each job contributes to the mission. If one of them fails the fate of the others will be in jeopardy. Thats the way that military teamwork goes. All of our military ring customers know how to operate as a team.

Sometimes a custom military ring customer will wind up with a group of individuals that he or she has never seen before but each one will know their individual job. they will instantly meld together and perform as a team because they are used to operating as a team.

If I consider all of the things that I miss from my time in the military the teamwork will have to top the list. Military teamwork, (as all of my military ring customers know) can’t be duplicated in the civilian world.

US troHighlight for Album: shrekops are gearing up for the biggest part of the new offensive in Afghanistan. The offensive action thus far seems to have been to capture the area around Marjah. It seems that the city of Marjah is the focus of the offensive so this is where the biggest part of the battle will take place.

NATO forces are consolidating for the attack and once again we are letting the civilian population know that they should be prepared to leave the city.

This will be the most difficult part of the offensive begause fighting is tougher for the attacking force in an urban environment. The structures which are indigenous to the big city offer defenders cover and concealment from the invading attackers. Buildings offer excellent protection from enemy fire and there are thousands of good hiding places inside of cities which you may not see on a normal battlefield.

Cities also give the defenders concealed avenues of movement through the streets and alleyways. The defenders can move easily and quickly through the streets without being seen and they can mass forces very easily. The city by nature of its narrow streets gives its defenders excellent kill zones where they can methodically take out the attackers.

The advanced technology that our military ring customers have will do a lot to equalize the advantages of the defenders by providing real time battle intelligence. We wish our troops well.

gaysThere is much debate on the don’t ask don’t tell policy of the US military regarding the service of gays in the armed forces.

First of all lets remember that gay men and women have always served in the military and always will. I say that we should not deny anyone the right to serve in the armed forces for any reason other than that person not meeting the minimal physical or mental requirements of military service.

On the other hand we must keep in mind my military ring customers that the military is a unique organization and there are certain rules of order which must be maintained because of the nature of their job. The military is not a organization which can afford to promote indivuality. All must conform to its established and proven protocols.

For example there are dress regulations, haircut regulations, standards of conduct, etc. These have been proven over years to be effective in maintaining military order and can’t be overlooked or relaxed.

Whether a person is gay or not should not be a standard of military service. The terms of the military take precedence over the likes or dislikes of the individual. Anyone who meets the standards that the military required should be allowed to serve, but sexual orientation can’t be flaunted. A soldier either male or female should look and behave like a soldier.

The Story of the 332d Air Expeditionary Wing

chappie jamesThe 332d AEW is currently on duty in Balad Iraq where the unit is given the charge of maintaining air superoirity over the skies of Iraq.

The present unit is the descendant of the 332d fighter wing which was established in Tuskegee Alabama in 1942 and was composed of the Army’s first black pilots. The original  name for the unit was the “Red Tailed Angels.” The first aircraft that this unit flew were the P-40 Warhawk. They were later transitioned to the P-47 Thunderbolts, and finally to the P-51 Mustang which gave them the ability to fly longer range missions.

The current unit was activated in 1998 as the 332d Air Expeditionary Group and eventually ended up in Balad. The unit’s organic equipment is much different now than when it was first activated.

The 332nd now consists of F-16 fighters, A-10 ground support aircraft, C103 transport aircraft, HH-60 Pave Hawk Helicopters for search and rescue missions, and MQ-1 Predators to conduct tactical surveillance and reconnaissance.

The Air Force ring customers honor the original Tuskegee Airmen with their motto…”Tuskegee Airmen…The Legend Continues…”

The Military Air Drop

February 20, 2010 posted by OldWarrior

air dropMost of us know about the air drop but this post will drop some knowledge on those of you who don’t know.

The air drop was a technique developed by the US Army and Air Force during WWII. The reason was to resupply friendly troops who were cut off from supply lines and couldn’t be resupplied any oter way. I think it was the solution to getting supplies to our cut off paratroopers who were running low on everything while they were behind enemy lines. The first air drops involved just pushing supplies attached to a parachute out of an airplane.

The air drop has evolved into 3 types which depend on the tactical situation and the type of materials being resupplied.

The first is the low velocity air drop. In this one several parachutes may be used for one item. the object is for the item to land with minimal force. This method may be used to drop sensitive equipment. It is used to drop items that need to be protected.

The high velocity air drop is used for items which are more durable. The dropped item will hit with more force but it won’t be damaged.

The LAPES, or low altitude parachute ejection system is another type of air drop. When this technique is used the aircraft comes very low and the item to be dropped is pushed out of the back. It is packed with materials which allow it to skid over the ground before it finallly comes to a complete stop.

The last and seldom used method is the free fall. When the free fall is used the item is thrown out of the aircraft with no parachute at all. This is most commonly used with propaganda leaflets. Our military ring customers who are infantry are especially knowledgeable of the air drop. Our paratrooper ring customers are more proficient with air drop procedures.

Our Lifetime Guarantee is Real

rings-photos-019.jpgI came up with the idea of doing this post this morning after I ran into one of my customers from waaay back. Sergeant Major Kaiser came to me after he had returned from the first Operation Iraqi Freedom to have a military ring made. He, his wife, and I worked on the custom military ring for awhile and I got to know them during the process of us putting it together. He needed his custom military ring to be his military retirement ring also because he was in the process of putting in his retirement papers.

We worked until we got him exactly what he wanted and his wife presented it to him at his retirement that next month. That was back in 2001 if I remember correctly. I just happened to run into him this morning at a convenience store and asked him how the ring was holding up. I was happy as a lark when I found out that his ring was just fine. He had no complaints whatsoever. Now my beloved military ring customers that is what I’m talking about.

This is a true story. We want you to rest assured that when you get your ring from us you will never have a problem that we can’t resolve.

Operation Enduring Frustration

force reconThis post is dedicated to our Special Operations ring customers and is designed to give the rest of us just a little bit of insight into what you have to go through that the world never hears about. We can’t speak of anything other than some of the difficulties that we know that you have to face on a constant basis.

I was a Field Artillery soldier and I went through some frustrating times so I know that you do also. Even much more so than I did because your job is many times more difficult than mine was.

To the rest of our custom military ring customers this is what the term Operation Enduring Frustration means: It refers to all of the last minute changes that come that absolutely disrupt everything than you had planned to do. It refers to the impossible number of tasks that you have to accomplish in an impossible amount of time. It refers to the last minute change that throws all of your rehearsals out of the window. Now you have to execute without the benefit of a rehearsal.

It refers to all of the equipment that you don’t have, or to the equipment which you can’t seem to be able to get fixed. It speaks of having to work in a cold weather environment without cold weather equipment. It speaks to my Special Forces, Rangers, Delta Force, and Navy SEAL (and others) military ring customers of finding out that you have a follow on mission which requires you to spend two more weeks in the field when you ran out of food and water yesterday.

It speaks of the emergency that you have right now at this minute that you can’t tell anyone about because you communications equipment won’t work.

In a sense this operation applies to all of our military ring customers everywhere. We all have gone through these situations from time to time and we all know how Murphy’s Law operates. This is another post of support to all of our troops.

Operation Moshtarak has Began

February 13, 2010 posted by OldWarrior

US, Afghans Sweep Taliban StrongholdThis operation is centered around the town of Marjah in Afghanistan is the beginning of the NATO offensive to retake Afghanistan and to restore order. This operation includes American troops, Afghan soldiers, and NATO troops.

So far there have been no coalition casualties but about 20 insurgents have been killed and 11 have been captured. The Taliban seems to be retreating into the city for the most part but allied forces have met some stiff resistance and as far as I know resistance is continuing in several areas.

The biggest problem that our military ring customers have been facing is an extensive network of mines and booby traps that the retreating Taliban has left behind. The traps have made progress slow and deliberate but have caused no casualties so far.

The Taliban has known to expect the attack for a while so they have had plenty of time to set up traps and to shore up their defense of the city.

The control of Marjah is critical because the city has been a hub for many of the Taliban’s activities to include logistics and the drug trade. We wish all of our custom military ring customers well who are involved with this attack.

Operation Enduring Seperation

February 12, 2010 posted by admin

Operation Enduring Seperation has been an ongoing operation which effects every branch of the Armed Forces and touches every family member regardless of age, race, sex, religion, or ethnicity.

Operation Enduring Seperation touches each and every one of my military ring customers, whether they are Army ring customers, Navy ring customers, Air Force ring customers, Marine ring customers, Coast Guard ring customers, etc. It doesn’t matter if they are Navy SEAL ring, customers, Special Forces ring customers, Delta Force, Army Rangers, Force Recon or what have you.

Highlight for Album: jizzmonkeyOperation Enduring Seperation speaks for the time when troops are seperated from their loved ones while discharging their sworn duties to their country. It speaks for the time that they have spent sleeping on the ground on top of ice and snow. It speaks for each and every wet and miserable experience that they have ever gone through while serving their country. It speaks for the times they have been caught in dust storms, rainstorms, blizzards, and heat waves.

This operation speaks especially for the times that they have been seperated from their husbands, wives, and children for months at a time. It speaks of the father of that new born who is now a year old and doesn’t even recognize him when he sees him.

It speaks for the mother who has just been moved to a place that she knows nothing about when her husband had to leave as soon as they got there. It speaks of her survival with several small children, a salary too small to even feed them, and a husband who is too far away to be of any help. It speaks further of the time that that husband finds that he will have to stay deployed for an extra six months, he only found out a few days before he was to return back home.

We need the support of every American man, woman, and child for those who have to participate in operation enduring seperation. Support our troops.

afghan armyIf you haven’t heard about this operation yet you are one of the minority because this is the most publicized operation in history. It really may not be the very most publicized military operation but the kicker is that it is being publicized before it has even started. US allies and Afghan officials are giving out details of the operation to the enemy right now.

The purpose of the publicity is to give the civilian population of Marjah and the surrounding area plenty of time to get out of the area if they want to leave. It also gives Taliban members time to make up their minds to leave if they want to. This is also an effort to reach out to the Taliban and hopefully set up an atmosphere where some sort of peace agreement can be reached shortly. The message to the Taliban is that if they decide to fight they can but it will be costly. Commanders are letting them know now that if they do decide to fight they can expect to take massive casualties.

The general concensus is that the Taliban will hide and try to wait out the assault. They may just try to wait until our forces leave the area and retake it. I don’t think that that will work because our intent will be to build the area up. Once we get a foothold we won’t relinquish control until the Afghan government is capable of standing on its own. http://www.militaryringexpress.com
