somali piratesThe European Union will use different more aggressive tactics now to combat the actions of Somali Pirates who have been a major cause of disruption in international shipping. The Navies of the EU have been authorized to go after the “Mother Ships” which serve as logistics resupply points, and assembly points for the smaller pirate skiffs. The use of Mother Ships enables the pirates to operate the smaller skiffs farther out at sea where they can refuel and resupply and sustain operations for longer.

This is a good tactic for two reasons that I can immediately discern. The first is that our Navy ring customers who have the job of finding and neutralizing pirate attacks won’t have to play the guessing game of wondering where they need to be at any particular time to protect merchant ships. This is like finding a needle in a haystack because there are just too many places for the pirates to attack.

The second reason that this is a good tactic is because this is a way for our military ring customers to effectively take the battle to the pirates. The mother ships are easier to find and take out. When you eliminate them you choke off the pirate ships because they have no way of being to sustain operations. I certainly hope that this operation is a success for our Navy ring customers.

stampsOur government will issue new stamps which will honor four of the Navies greatest heroes. The sailors to be honored are; Arleigh A Burke, John McCloy, Doris Miller, and William S Sims.

These men all distinguished themselves by exemplary service to our country and are worthy of mention here.

Arleigh Burke was a decorated warrior who served three terms as the Chief of Naval Operations which is the highest rank that can be held in the Navy.

John McCloy was one of the very few men to be awarded two medals of honor. he was also awarded the Navy Cross for valor. In one of his medal of honor incidents he was cited for deliberately putting his ship in the line of enemy fire so that the enemy could be located.

Doris Miller was the mess attendant who distinguished himself during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He manned a 50cal machinegun during the attack and engaged Japanese aircraft. The significant thing here is that he had never been trained to operate the 50cal. He also rescued many wounded sailors who were otherwise trapped aboard his vessel.

The last hero is William S Sims. He served as the commander of Naval forces in Europe during WWII. He is credited with the transformation of our Navy into the modern fighting force that it is.

The postage stamp is one mechanism used to honor our countries heroes. If you served in the navy the Navy ring is another way for individual sailors to commemorate their time in service.

Our Lifetime Guarantee is Real

rings-photos-019.jpgI came up with the idea of doing this post this morning after I ran into one of my customers from waaay back. Sergeant Major Kaiser came to me after he had returned from the first Operation Iraqi Freedom to have a military ring made. He, his wife, and I worked on the custom military ring for awhile and I got to know them during the process of us putting it together. He needed his custom military ring to be his military retirement ring also because he was in the process of putting in his retirement papers.

We worked until we got him exactly what he wanted and his wife presented it to him at his retirement that next month. That was back in 2001 if I remember correctly. I just happened to run into him this morning at a convenience store and asked him how the ring was holding up. I was happy as a lark when I found out that his ring was just fine. He had no complaints whatsoever. Now my beloved military ring customers that is what I’m talking about.

This is a true story. We want you to rest assured that when you get your ring from us you will never have a problem that we can’t resolve.

Lets Examine this Case

bahrainIf you really take the time to look at the facts of this case it will be a tribute and a testament to our intelligence gathering capabilities in the Middle East. The story is that two terrorists were jailed in Bahrain for plotting terror attacks against US Navy ships and personnel in Bahrain, and weapons charges. Don’t you think its kind of strange that a small cell of two men could be found and taken down right before they were to begin their attack.

Yes thats right. The two were ready and waiting on their attack orders when they were nabbed. One of the two was a customs officer. The NSA provided the information which led to their arrest and government prosecuters allege that the men were trained in Jordan. Notice the word allege. They don’t allege without having some form of knowledge so I’m willing to believe that they know exactly what they are talking about. This was a good job by our government service ring customers in the NSA

Check out this last little tidbit O military ring customers. When the residences of the would be attackers were searched numerous weapons, bomb building paraphernalia, maps, and photos of the target areas were found in their possesion.

Operation Enduring Seperation

February 12, 2010 posted by admin

Operation Enduring Seperation has been an ongoing operation which effects every branch of the Armed Forces and touches every family member regardless of age, race, sex, religion, or ethnicity.

Operation Enduring Seperation touches each and every one of my military ring customers, whether they are Army ring customers, Navy ring customers, Air Force ring customers, Marine ring customers, Coast Guard ring customers, etc. It doesn’t matter if they are Navy SEAL ring, customers, Special Forces ring customers, Delta Force, Army Rangers, Force Recon or what have you.

Highlight for Album: jizzmonkeyOperation Enduring Seperation speaks for the time when troops are seperated from their loved ones while discharging their sworn duties to their country. It speaks for the time that they have spent sleeping on the ground on top of ice and snow. It speaks for each and every wet and miserable experience that they have ever gone through while serving their country. It speaks for the times they have been caught in dust storms, rainstorms, blizzards, and heat waves.

This operation speaks especially for the times that they have been seperated from their husbands, wives, and children for months at a time. It speaks of the father of that new born who is now a year old and doesn’t even recognize him when he sees him.

It speaks for the mother who has just been moved to a place that she knows nothing about when her husband had to leave as soon as they got there. It speaks of her survival with several small children, a salary too small to even feed them, and a husband who is too far away to be of any help. It speaks further of the time that that husband finds that he will have to stay deployed for an extra six months, he only found out a few days before he was to return back home.

We need the support of every American man, woman, and child for those who have to participate in operation enduring seperation. Support our troops.

India is Seriously Beefing up its Navy

February 11, 2010 posted by OldWarrior

India Steams Ahead With Two CarriersThe Indian Navy is doing some serious beefing up over the next few years. Part of this may be their anticipation of hostilities with Pakistan. During their last war with Pakistan they saw that Naval operations were a great benefit to the overall war effort. I’m sure that they have many other reasons for beefing up their Navy but I really don’t know what they are. You Navy ring customers will be familiar with some of the following types of ships that they are adding to their inventory but many of you marine corps, air force and army ring customers may not be familiar with these ships or their function.

The list of new ships will include two 40,000 ton Russian made Aircraft Carriers, three Guided Missile Destroyers which are being built, seven Stealth Frigates which will be constructed in the near future, one Russian Frigate, four Anti Submarine Warfare Corvettes which will be built, eleven subs, (5 of which will be nuclear), one Russian sub which is being procured, they will also acquire eight mine counter measure vessels, and two fleet Replenishment Tankers.

We are talking about some serious firepower here folks. The motto of this post is; Don’t mess with India.

The use of Military Robots

February 10, 2010 posted by admin

robotsThe Armed Forces are rapidly developing robots to use in military applications. The use of robots will save friendly lives by doing some of the most dangerous jobs that our troops have to perform in combat.

One place where I believe robots will definitely help out will be in urban warfare situations. Urban warfare is the most dangerous for the attacker because he doesn’t know where the enemy is until he is right upon him. Military robots can be used in urban warfare to go into buildings and around corners to find out exactly where the enemy soldier is located. They can provide pictures so that our troops will know exactly what tey are up against.

Drones are one example of a military robot which is providing excellent benefits to our troops. They have been instrumental in allowing us to take out many high ranking taliban officials. Robots will definitely be a force multiplier in any conflict but I think that you military ring customers will agree that they will never be able to completely replace the infantryman with a rifle.

joint attackThe upcoming Offensive which is to take place in southern Afghanistan will heavily involve the Afghan Army. We are going as far as to say that it will be an Afghan led offensive. It is also being widely publicized. I thought about why all of the publicity about the attack and several reasons came to me why US planners are letting the enemy know that we are coming. Normally you want an attack to be as much of a surprise as possible, but in this case that is not so.

Announcing our intentions of attack first of all gives innocent civilians time enough to get out of the area. It puts our troops at greater risk because the element of surprise is lost but it serves to show that we are doing all that we can to save the lives of innocent civilians. Our Operation Enduring Freedom ring customers are aware that it also gives the Taliban time enough to get out of the area. It is a stronghold of the Taliban and if they choose to turn and run it will be very easy to take and hold. On the flip side of the coin though if they decide to hold the city (which I think that they will) they will have plenty of time to reinforce their positions and prepare for the attack. This won’t be good news to our military ring customers at all.

“Inside Buffalo”

February 8, 2010 posted by OldWarrior

Black History Month: 'Inside Buffalo'I have never seen this docudrama, but from what I have read about it I feel that every soldier, marine, sailor, and airman should check it out as I will when I am able.

From what I have read this docudrama depicts life in the 92nd Buffalo Division during WWII. For those of you military ring customers who may not be familiar with the term “buffalo” it is a term which used to be applied to American soldiers of African descent.

Inside Buffalo tells the story of an army which was vastly different from our Army of today. In the 1940’s according to the account given by 92nd Division veteran Joseph Stephenson there was a quota set for the number of blacks that the Army would accept. He had to apply to every buffalo soldier unit that he could find in order to be admitted into the military. When ha was accepted he never went through basic training.

Our military has come a long way since that time. Now we have a multicultural military. We have sold military rings to people of many different heritages, and races. I would always feel proud when we deployed to other countries and they were able to see that America is truly a meltingpot for all people.

What is Meant by a Zone of Fire?

February 3, 2010 posted by OldWarrior

Highlight for Album: Harry's favouritesThe term “zone of fire” refers to the area of responsibility which is assigned to military weapons in actual combat.

Contrary to probably what popular belief is, every person who fires a military weapon in combat form the rifleman up to the most advanced fighter jet pilot is assigned an area of responsibility for his weapon. Troops don’t ordinarily just shoot at whatever target that they happen to see. They are assigned a zone or sector to watch. The individual soldier or fighter pilot, etc. is responsible for killing everything unfriendly in his zone.

So now I hear you thinking grasshopper. You are saying what if a soldier gets killed and can’t cover his zone effectively? Well the answer to that is very simple. The zones overlap so that half of your zone is covered by the person on the opposite side of you if you are an infantry ring customer. If you are one of my pilot’s ring customers you will have an assigned area on the ground to use your weapons. If you are a pilot who didn’t get to use his weapons you may be given another zone with known enemy positions or you may proceed to the free fire area where you can fire at any target which presents itself.
